WHAT SHOULD YOU DO ON THE LAST WEEK OF JANUARY 2020?
I doubt any January has ever flown by this fast. I woke up in the wee hours of this morning anxious. It is the last Monday of the month. When did the month begin? I hope I am not the only one asking this question with a solemn look.
So the much anticipated 2020 is here, and we are almost one month down, what have you done? This is the question that kept nagging at me as I tried to go back to sleep at 2am. I look back and see that I have mostly rested, and planned my year since the month began. To my mind, this didn’t seem like much at the time, but what is achievable without a plan?
Yes, it is the last week of January, and there is still so much to get down before February. I raised this concern with a trusted friend and he said “Calm down girl, January is for planning the year.” After giving it a thought I agree with him. Though I will work at planning in December this time.
I know many of us started this year with loads of uncertainties, I did too. And so far, I have had to adjust my plans and projections every single day. Nothing seems clear, even the seemingly certain prospects suddenly disappears from the list of options. But like I was told, CALM DOWN. I have decided that whatever happens this year, I will applaud myself for my hardwork and dedication, plus have loads of fun. We may not be having fun this last week of January, but we will put in that last bit of effort to ensure this month ends well.
Therefore, I recommend this interesting exercise for you. I am sure you will feel better about January afterwards.
What to do?
- Dream
- Get a theme
- Plan
- Dream again
- Act
Before I go further, I must say that there is no ideal year, we do not control all the aces on the table of life, but a plan gives us the chance to even the odds. It also feels good to know that your life has a purpose. So let’s begin the exercise.
DREAM
As little girls, we always spent long hours dreaming, then we were really fun. Now that we are grown-up we rarely ever dream anymore, look how fun we are.
Close your eyes and imagine your 2020. What will you do? Where will you go? How happy will you be? What major steps will you take? Who would you love or go into business with? What skills will you learn or develop? How much will you make (both as salary and passive income)? Things like that. Don’t wear that serious look. You can still day dream can’t you? Go ahead, close your eyes.

This particular exercise opens the mind and sends signals to your brain that pushes you to be more than you are currently. A Writer once said, “if you can’t dream it, you don’t deserve it.”
GET A THEME/WORD
Now that you have envisioned your year, what word or phrase perfectly reflects what you saw? I have heard a lot of people talk about “loving only those who love them.” I hope this isn’t your theme, but if that is what you saw, why not? For me, my word for the year is FOCUS.
PLAN
Next, you should plan. Your vision of 2020 can come through if you act now. If you have read this far, then you must be really serious about making this year count. So let’s make it count- PLAN. What must you put in place to achieve that dream? Write them down.
DREAM AGAIN
Yes. This is very important. We are going over that dream again to be sure your plan aligns properly with what you saw. We can’t take chances, so close your eyes again and imagine.
ACT
Life must have shown you that there is no foolproof plan, unless of course in the movies. Even the 007 series wasn’t foolproof. So you will keep repeating steps one and three periodically as the year progresses, but you must act on every plan that aligns. Inaction is as bad a negligence. Every step you take brings you closer to the actualization of the vision you had. Think what your year will be If every action you take aligns with your plan.
It won’t be easy you can be sure of that, but you will be better off. The singular act of selecting a word or phrase which you repeat to yourself will help you align your thoughts and actions to your plans. Let’s plunge into this last week of January with renewed vigor and enthusiasm. Smash those goals, I trust you can. I would love to hear (in the comment box below) how this is working out for you.
Have a great week!!!
